Examples of use of G-10
1. Real progress on agricultural market access will depend on movement "from the other end of the spectrum, primarily the European Union, but also others in the G–10," he said.
2. He added, however, that trading partners outside the EU also are resisting lower agricultural tariffs, notably the G–10 group of agriculture–importing countries, which includes APEC members Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
3. The IDB should encourage the establishment of a Muslim G–10 which should meet annually to discuss inter alia the Islamic financial system, the Muslim economies, and their integration into the global financial and economic systems.
4. Other important projects include establishment of Federal Drought Recovery Assistance Program Project, agro–food processing facilities at Multan, construction of office accommodation for National Accountability Bureau, Rawalpindi Phase–I and construction of judicial and administration complex in Sector G–10/1 Islamabad.
5. An important development, he said, was that the United States and other countries that had been advocating what is called "Swiss formula" agricultural tariff cuts have since agreed to work on a "middle ground working hypothesis." Under a Swiss formula the highest tariffs would face the biggest cuts. The opposite approach pressed by the European Union (EU) and some of the G–10 group of food–importing countries was a Uruguay Round formula for cutting all tariffs, high and low, by the same proportion.
